Do you know your Dosha?
In Ayurveda we believe that we mirror the universe, The 5 elements that make up the universe also live inside of us.
The five natural elements (ether, air, fire, water, and earth) are present in both your mind and body.
What is a Dosha ?
Our Dosha is considered our true essence , our blueprint, our DNA. These elemental energies influence everything from your physical shape and digestion to the way you process thoughts and emotions.
The 3 Doshas are:
Vata (ether, air), Pitta (fire, water), and Kapha (water, earth).

Vata Dosha
Hello Vata! Vata consists mostly of the two elements air and ether. The qualities of Vata dosha (light, cool, dry, quick) will be noticeably expressed in your mind and body. Autumn represents Vata for its cool, crisp days. Your body is probably naturally thin and slender. Your hands and feet may tend to get cold easily, and your skin is cool and dry to the touch. Your sleep may sometimes be a bit elusive, or easily disturbed. You are energetic, and creative. Intellectually you have an agile mind that moves quickly and may be prone to forget things just as easily as you learn them! Your emotions are likely fluid as well and can be highly dependent on the weather, people around them, and foods they eat. People with strong Vata tendencies are whirlwind types who often find themselves rushed or in a hurry.
Balanced Vata- learns quickly, highly creative, multitasker, kind-hearted, flexible, clear and alert mind, balanced digestion and elimination, good circulation and even body temperature,
Imbalanced Vata- is forgetful, anxious, can get overwhelmed easily, highly sensitive to the cold, has trouble sleeping, irregular appetite and eating patterns, prone to digestive issues with bloating and gas.
You can balance Vata Dosha by; choosing warm cooked foods like roasted root vegetables, soups and stews. Swapping your morning smoothie for spiced stewed apples. Doing one thing at a time, creating a calm, organised home and work place, sticking with a good routine for waking, eating and sleeping. Grounding activities like gardening or meditating in nature will help get you out of your own head and into your body to find the perfect balance of life. Try a barefoot walk in the grass to ground yourself.
